Two massive earthquakes hit Nepal in April and May 2015

Help Rural Nepal has been supporting local communities in the remote Dhading district of Nepal since 2009. We have focused on health and education projects.

In 2015 two huge earthquakes devastated many areas of Nepal where homes, schools and historic buildings still lie in ruins.

The epicentre of the first earthquake was in the Dhading area where houses and schools were badly damaged or destroyed and many people are still living in temporary buildings. Many families lost everything including their livestock.

Since the earthquakes Help Rural Nepal, together with our Nepali Partner NGO Pathe Nepal have been concentrating on helping communities recover.

This year’s harvest has been good so food stores are being replenished and children are back at school though often in temporary classrooms.  HRN has helped with rebuilding school buildings, delivering new books and equipment to schools and assisting a micro financing scheme to enable people to buy replacement farm animals.

For details of all our projects please look at the relevant pages.

Everyone has been so very generous with their donations and we will continue to help these rural communities both immediately and in the longer term.
